NFORMATION OPERATIONS

INFO OPS is fast becoming an established military formation within NATO. PSYOPS forms part of this this formation and for many nations the term is more acceptable for an over-arching infromations warfare campaign. It should not be confused with the US INFORMATION OPERATIONS terminolgy which tends to place much emphasis on information security / electronic warfare countermeasures etc.

The other four core capabilities employed by IO to achieve desired combatant commander effects—xiv U.S. Military Information Operations in Afghanistan electronic warfare (EW), military deception (MILDEC), computer network operations (CNO), and operations security (OPSEC)
