Drew Chaney and Doug Elwell's interest in Worldwide PSYOPS insignia.
Doug and Drew have been friends for years. They both share this unique and interesting insignia specialisation - WORLDWIDE PSYOPS patches, insignia and badges. The wiki site aims at highlighting the various PSYOPS insignia worn by those engaged in the art of PSYOPS. It is our shared goal that the wiki site is able to share information with fellow collectors - new and those with a similar interest. Further it is hoped that we promote greater trade, swapping and acquisition of unknown items, knowledge and leads for our respective collections. Naturally, Drew and Doug endeavour to acquire items for each other and are in constant communication. They invite you to survey their collecting interest here!
Detailed herein is a pictorial reference of worldwide PSYOPS unit insignia from past and present conflicts. The vast majority of images are in fact images of items they seek to add to their respective collections. The wiki 'virtual collection' showcased here is part 'actual' and mostly a' representational' look at what their collections should look like - one day! The vast majority of images are examples of items still to be collected / acquired by them! Please help if you can add any items!
The images serve as a gentle reminder to Doug and Drew that collecting is a slow, but rewarding pursuit. WHAT IS PSYOPS?
Psychological Operations (PSYOP / PSYOPS) are techniques used by military forces to influence a target audience's emotions, motives, objective reasoning, and behavior.
Target audiences can be governments, organizations, groups, and individuals, and are used in order to induce confessions, or reinforce attitudes and behaviors favorable to the originator's objectives.
These are sometimes combined with black operations or false flag tactics.
The PSYOPS concept has been used by military institutions throughout history, but it is only since the twentieth century that it has been accorded the organizational and professional status it enjoys now.
The growth and appreciation for PSYOPS Forces is highlighted in this collecting speciality.
PSYOPS has numerous names and designations across the world, and many nations group both PSYOPS and the CIMIC function within an Influence Activities or an Influence and Outreach capacity.
The aim of many of these new combined units is to challenge the difficulties of modern warfare using non-lethal engagement and legitimate non-military levers as a means to adapt behaviours of the opposing forces and adversaries.

2011 saw a dramatic change in US PSYOP nomenclature. PSYOP was replaced by MISO - Military Information Support Operations. MISO forces also increased in number.
